Hosting: Two Cocktails to Impress this Fall / Winter
Mixology and creating a stunning cocktail has become a skill and hobby during quarantine. With months of practice and testing under our belts, we decided on two cocktails from Half Baked Harvest that are sure to impress this Fall and Winter.
Apple Butter Old Fashioned
The Apple Butter Old Fashioned has proved (from our research) to be a crowd favorite. The richness of the apple butter complimented the smokiness of the bourbon perfectly, while also adding the perfect hint of sweetness. We would suggest sipping this fine fall drink slowly by a roaring fire - it packs quiet the punch!
For this drink, you will need:
coarse sugar, for the rim
1/4 cup apple cider
juice from 1/2 a lemon
dash of orange bitters
1 tablespoon apple butter
2 ounces bourbon
ginger beer or ginger kombucha, for topping
thinly sliced apples and cinnamon, for garnish
To make this drink, start by lining your glass with course sugar. In a shaker, combine all liquid ingredients and apple butter and shake until everything is combined thoroughly. Once your done with that, get your glass, fill it with ice, and pour your drink in! If you would like, feel free to garnish with thinly sliced apples, cinnamon, and star anise!
Smoky Harvest Apple Cider Margarita
The next drink on our to-make list is the Smoky Harvest Apple Cider Margarita (say that 5 times fast). If you know our team, we believe tequila pairs well with almost everything, and this seasonal margarita definitely lives up to our expectations! Who knew that apple cider and tequila would become our Fall and Winter go-to?
For this drink, you will need:
cinnamon sugar & flaky salt for the rim
2 oz mezcal or silver tequila
1/2 ounce orange liquor
4 ounces (1/2 cup) apple cider
juice from 1/2 a lime
1-2 teaspoons maple syrup use more or less to your taste
apple slices and cinnamon sticks, for serving
Once your done rimming your glass with cinnamon and/or flaky salt, combine all liquid ingredients into a shaker and shake it with ice! Once shaken, strain drink into a chilled glass and garnish with apple slices and cinnamon stick! If you want, you can light the end of the cinnamon stick on fire for a smokier effect!
We loved everything about these cocktails, from the smokiness of the margarita to the richness of the old fashioned! These cocktails are amazing for any occasion and will make for quite the stir at upcoming holiday parties and Thanksgiving dinners!
Autumn truly is one of our favorite seasons and we had so much fun coming together and creating these delicious drinks to ring in the upcoming months! We encourage everyone to have a go at making these yourselves and share your fall cocktail photos / recipes with us at @roothospitality!
